Loving Kindness and Integral Assessment

  1. Describe the exercise and assessment process. What did you discover about yourself? What area have you chosen to be a focus of growth and development? Why? What are some specific exercises or activities that you can implement to foster greater wellness in this area?
I began my integral assessment by closing my eyes and focusing on the four quadrants of my integral life. I began to turn my attention to my biological self. I went deeper in meditation to focus on self regulation in my life. I have the ability to do a lot in my physical abilities despite disabilities I have acquired as I have grown. The problem I have faced is committing a lifestyle to change. I commit for a few months or even as long as a year and then fall off the wagon. I know I am capable of making consistent change I just need to focus. I could start making this change by taking time to meditate daily on what I know I am capable of. Practice and routine will make perfect. The more I practice my meditation the better I will become at meditation too. It is win, win.

Let's compare

Compare and contrast the Loving Kindness exercise and the Subtle mind exercise. Explain your experience including the benefits, frustrations etc.

Honestly, it is very hard for me to compare these two exercises. I find joy in each exercise although I feel this exercise with the subtle mind does not allow my mind to relax. It is forcing me to be aware of the thoughts in my mind. Yes it is insightful although I have to be present also. When I meditate I like to take my mind elsewhere. This exercise is very frustrating although the concept makes sense to me.

Discuss the connection of the spiritual wellness to mental and physical wellness. Explain how the connection is manifested in your personal life.

Spiritual wellness and physical wellness are tightly intertwined. The healthier we can keep our minds the healthier our bodies will stay. Blocked channels in the brain and heart lead to blocked channels in our vital organs. The negative energy in our brain manifest in our bodies. I have been in situations where the energy around me is very negative. I have found myself in these situations taking more sick time than normal.

Love and Kindness Meditation

Describe your experience. Did you find it beneficial? Difficult? Why or why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or why not?

When I performed this meditation I found it very peaceful. It was not difficult actually it was very easy. I would recommend this to others. This warmed my heart and I came out of it feeling very at peace. I feel others should experience this and understand this feeling to make for a better world.

What is the concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?

Mental workouts are exactly what it states, exercises for the mind. Mental workouts can provide clarity and a greater wisdom into what we are capable of as humans. Daily mental workouts through meditation and affirmations with self reflection can create a new way of thinking. Fifteen minutes everyday sitting in a quiet place preferable in morning while the mind is at peace and focuses on one area of the inner self will create psychological wellness.

My overall wellbeing

Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your :                                                       Why?

A-physical wellbeing- I am in pretty good shape although am about 12 pounds over my optimal weight. I could stand to eat a little better too. I give myself a 6 here.

B-spiritual well-being- I am going to score myself at a 6 here too. I do not attend any formal type of communing with others. I do take time for my belief in a higher power and do speak to my God daily. I also meditate although not as much as I was in the past.

C-psychological well-being - Oh here is my weakness and I would score this a 5. I can stand to be more outwardly strong and confident.

Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).

Physical - I commit to do cardio 4 days a week.
Spiritual - I commit to spending more time in meditation with God.
Psychological- I commit to believing more in the fact I can do anything I set my mind to and have.

What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?
I can walk or run for at least 20 minutes at night. I can do more scripture reading and appreciate my alone time more. Using more positive affirmations will increase my believe in myself.

The relaxation exercise was wonderful. It worked through every Chakra to help heal and clear each essential function for a full body mind cleansing. I loved the rainbow meditation.
